In his speech Saturday night, President-elect Joe Biden pledged to “marshal the forces of decency, the forces of fairness, to marshal the forces of science and forces of hope in the great battles of our time.”
Alya and I congratulate the President-elect and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. We celebrate this moment in history, filled with opportunity to write a new chapter for our nation and world.
Together, it is our mission and our responsibility to make the world less unfair for those less fortunate. We must leave the world better than we found it, and to have had our being here made a measurable difference.
There is much work to do. Systemic racism and other challenges can only be overcome by the brightest of lights and the triumph of love over hate. We are determined to stay the course, and together, we will prevail.
President-elect Biden said, “It is time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again, and to make progress,” adding “This is the time to heal in America.”
We could not agree more. Across our network of foundations and with partners in government, industry, and the nonprofit sector, we look forward to joining everyone as we redouble efforts and investments to create a more equal, more prosperous, more reverent, and merciful world for all of God’s creations: people, animals, and our planet.
