Forging Equitable Futures for Student Parents

Summit Snapshot

Nearly half a million postsecondary students in California are pregnant and/or parenting students. Although they embark upon the same educational journey as their peers, student parents are more likely to experience unique challenges in their pursuit of a degree, such as time poverty, and also often come from marginalized communities.

Join us to explore ways California’s campuses can become family serving. During the Summit, practitioners, philanthropists, systems leaders, student parents, and allies from all across the state will come together to delve into innovative strategies, inclusive policies, and community-based initiatives designed to enhance student parent success. Together, we can shape a future where every student parent thrives.

Key Topics Include:

  • Multigenerational approaches on parenthood and education
  • Childcare solutions and accessible services for student parents
  • Simultaneously addressing postsecondary education and early childhood education
  • Policy advocacy and legislative initiatives for student parents
  • Bridging the transfer student process
  • Cultivating community partnerships to strengthen support networks
