Summit Snapshot 

Nearly half a million postsecondary students in California are pregnant and/or parenting students. Although they embark upon the same educational journey as their peers, student parents are more likely to experience unique challenges in their pursuit of a degree, such as time poverty, and also often come from marginalized communities.

Join us to explore ways California’s campuses can become family serving. During the Summit, practitioners, philanthropists, systems leaders, student parents, and allies from all across the state will come together to delve into innovative strategies, inclusive policies, and community-based initiatives designed to enhance student parent success. Together, we can shape a future where every student parent thrives.

What is the Forging Equitable Futures for Student Parents Summit?
The Summit will bring together practitioners, faculty members, student parents, and leaders from across the state, who will work together to delve into innovative strategies, inclusive policies, and community-based initiatives designed to enhance student parent success. Together, we aim to revolutionize support systems for pregnant and parenting students through a multigenerational lens, fostering an environment where pregnant and parenting students can thrive.
When and where is the summit being held?

The Summit will begin with an opening reception on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in downtown Los Angeles at Regal LA Live, and continue with a full-day program on Friday, September 6 at Los Angeles Trade Tech.

When do I register?

Registration is sold out. We invite you to join our waitlist should spots open up.

Is there a hotel block?

The hotel block is now closed.

Is there parking at the venue?

Regal LA Live validates parking for LOT 4 and the West garage if guests enter through gates E or F. Validation is $8 for the first four hours with a daily maximum of $40.

There will be complimentary parking at Los Angeles Trade Tech.

We encourage attendees to park in the Olive Street parking structure.

Will meals be provided?

There will be movie concessions and hors d’oeuvres at Regal LA Live.  

We will provide breakfast, lunch, and a reception on September 6. Please visit our agenda at-a-glance page for more information.

How will the event be handling COVID-19 safety precautions?

The safety of our attendees is our top priority. We will provide optional masks and hand sanitizers for attendees. We will be monitoring public health guidelines related to COVID-19 and will provide updates closer to the event. Michelson 20MM Foundation, as always, will be following guidance from local health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding large gatherings. Attendees will be required to follow the rules and regulations of the venue and the city of Los Angeles.

How can I request accessibility accommodations and/or services for the summit?
We strive to make event spaces accessible to everyone who wants to attend. Please let us know how we can meet your access needs. If you have any further questions, please email Queena Hoang at q.hoang@20mm.org.
Will any sessions be recorded or live streamed?
This event will not be live streamed.
Will summit presentations be made available after the event?
Depending on the speaker’s preferences, we will make materials available post-convening.
Will there be media and photographers on site?

Yes, there will be media and photographers onsite. Please see the terms and conditions which are required for registration below.

Can I bring my children?

We will not be providing on-site childcare at the summit but children are welcome to attend. We will have a family friendly space available for your child where we will provide independent activities for them to engage and participate in if they attend the event. Please note that this is not a childcare facility, and you are responsible for monitoring your child in this space.

Terms & Conditions

The Summit organizers will be following guidance from local health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding large gatherings. Attendees will be required to follow the rules and regulations of the venue and the city of Los Angeles, CA.

Michelson 20MM Foundation may be photographing, videotaping, audiotaping, or webcasting meetings and activities throughout the summit. Registration, attendance, and/or participation at any of these events constitutes an agreement by the registrant or attendee to these activities and to the use and distribution of the registrant’s or attendee’s image, likeness, or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions, and audiotapes.
