ReUp Education, a Michelson Runway portfolio company, supports students who dropped out of college before graduating with a degree. By partnering with universities, ReUp re-enroll students into college and helps them persist through graduation.
Students who dropped out of their degree may now get back on track at one of ReUp’s several institutions. Bellevue University, Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and Western Governor’s University all work with ReUp to get students back in the classroom. As a result, ReUp has successfully re-enrolled 800 students and is on track to re-enroll 1,000 by 2018!
Paving the Way to Bring Students Back To School
Did you know the U.S. Department of Education reports 40% of students in the U.S. start yet don’t finish post secondary education? Therefore, the goals and objectives of ReUp become essential. The majority come from lower economic backgrounds and are first-time college students.
With over 31 million Americans nationwide leaving college before earning a degree in the past 20 years, ReUp’s programs are essential to changing that statistic. In addition to focusing on the gap between enrollment and graduation, ReUp is also committed to helping students persist through college until they earn their degree.
“We couldn’t be more proud of ReUp’s progress to date,” said Dr. Gary K. Michelson, founder of the Michelson 20MM Foundation. “They’re a trailblazer in the space, bringing to life an additive layer of university services that blends human touch with technology capabilities to support these students.”
ReUp Education And Their Secret Sauce
Recently, ReUp CEO, Nitzan Pelman, explained how her team of college success coaches have been employing successful strategies to support students:
“We have expertise that universities don’t have […] All of our coaching is remote, but it’s all driven by data. What messages resonate most with these students; somebody who dropped out two years ago versus someone who dropped out five years ago might have a different need or way they want to engage, or [need] a different message that resonates with them.”
Since ReUp’s technology detects student patterns, they therefore can offer tailored support to those who need it. These coaches assist students with setting goals, creating study habits, managing finances, and offer course selection support. Due to the various economic, social, and academic hurdles students face, ReUp’s found the secret sauce for student success.
