In 2022, the Michelson 20MM Foundation launched the Digital Equity in Tribal Communities Project as a multi-year effort to address the digital divide in indigenous communities.

This project looks to equip tribal nations with the knowledge, tools, and means necessary to access the internet and its critical resources. Above all, we aim to center the voices, expertise, and wisdom of tribal leaders best positioned to lead in this pursuit.

As part of the project, in partnership with the Institute for Local Self Reliance (ISLR),  we have supported a bootcamp series to provide tribal communities with resources to establish and maintain broadband networks, helping them connect to the economic, health, education, and civic engagement opportunities available. To date, ILSR has organized 13 Tribal Broadband Bootcamp events in seven states, working with over 70  Tribes and engaging more than 350 attendees.

We look forward to partnering on future bootcamps and furthering our support of thriving, diverse, and equitable tribal communities.
